Given the recent lengthy outage, I thought I would reiterate our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MinecraftCC-123181857760824/

In the even of server downtime, this is where I will communicate what's going on. If you wish to be informed, go ahead and "like" the page so that you can receive future updates and notifications.

I really don't like using Facebook for this, but I think it's really the best method outside of the forum we can use. If someone has a better (family-friendly!) suggestion, let me know.

Edit: We also have a Discord server available now as well. One can either download the app (computer and/or mobile) or simply use it from their web browser: http://discord.me/mccc

Perhaps an official CC Twitter account, and an automated script that polls the server, and automatically tweets the relevant information during downtime. Also could notify administrators directly when the downtime starts.

Did you know you can make a closed group on FB.. only people you admit to the group can see. You can have as many group admins as you wish, and anyone in the group can post in the group.
    So you could have a
    CC Staff group
    CC Staff & VIPs group
    CC Members group
    OR all three.

Google Scripts has a limit on how many times a script can be run per day, or something along those lines. I had this set up at one point to keep an eye on the forums.

If CloudFlare offers the ability to redirect upon the main site going down, we could always point that at a landing page of sorts hosted elsewhere. Said page could possibly display that the site is down, why it's down (if we know why), and a way to communicate (shoutbox-type chat) with players/staff. That being said, I'm not sure if such a feature exists, but it might be something to look into.
