Just thought I'd put an official notice out here, as well as an explanation of why...
So I'm currently running two servers, with the following configuration:
"BUILD SERVER"
IP: play.minecraft.cc
Game features: Health/PvP/Animals/Mobs disabled
On the original map from just after the Oct 31st update
"PvP SERVER"
IP: play.minecraft.cc:23456
Game features: Health/PvP/Animals/Mobs enabled
On a new map, stemmed from a temporary map a couple of days old
Firstly, I enabled two servers because there were players who wanted to continue playing PvP, as well as players who were clamoring to play on the original map and just build stuff in relative peace. Since plugins do not currently exist for making PvP safezones, the simplest solution was to run two servers at the same time to satisfy both parties. While we currently have a vote going for how to handle the future server setups, most of them are not possible with currently available plugins.
Secondly, I tried to make the build server with the old map be as close to what we had before as possible. This meaned disabling all mobs and animals. We can enable them again if majority vote rules for it.
I also tried to make the PvP server play "as Notch intended", since that's been the theme of this server and community since it was started. This means full on PvP, no safe zones, and all mobs/animals enabled. We'll see how it goes, and can modify this in the future if needed.
