6/7/2016 - PROGRAM IS COMPLETE - I HAVE NO MORE BTC TO GIVE AWAY!

On MinecraftCC's main server (IP: play.minecraftcc.com), you can be paid in bitcoins for every unique block you mine and every unique block you place! Unique is defined as an x,y,z,[world] position that has not previously been modified by any player. This is valid on all worlds within the main server. I plan for this to continue indefinitely, but the payout per block may vary in the future.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: If your forum username does not match your in-game name, you will NOT receive a payout! If you need to change your forum username to match your in-game name, please contact eaglestallon via forum PM, and he can change it. Note that once he changes it, you will need to log in with your new username - it will not let you log in with your old username. You could also simply sign up for a new forum account that matches your in-game name - the choice is yours.

Please note that useless and ugly block placements will not be allowed, especially on the creative map! You may mine however you like except on creative, where even mining must be kept clean, purposeful, and pretty. If you are caught doing ugly things for the purpose of exploiting the payout system, you will be banned from the server. BOTTING IS NOT ALLOWED. If you are suspected of botting, you very well be permanently banned from the server and will not receive a payout. For this reason, pay attention to chat, and if you are frozen by a moderator, respond to them if they ask you a question!

The payout is currently variable per block, and denominated in satoshi's. A satoshi is a small fraction of a bitcoin. 100,000 satoshi's (12,500 mined stone) is currently worth about $0.60, so it doesn't take much play time to add up! The minimum payout is 50,000 satoshi's (or 0.0005 BTC), so you must mine at least that much before you will see your first payout. The maximum payout per week per player is 0.01 BTC. Any blocks mined beyond that amount in a single week will not be paid, ever.

The list of satoshis per block modified is below. Placing a block is AIR.

Payouts are generally made once a week, currently on Tuesdays.

To be paid, you must post your bitcoin address in the "Post Your Bitcoin Address Here" thread. You will not be paid for blocks mined prior to posting your address in that thread. Read the instructions carefully or you may not receive your payouts!

An easy bitcoin wallet to use is located at blockchain.info. Create a free wallet, and follow the instructions for receiving bitcoins to generate a receiving address. A valid Bitcoin address always starts with a 1. This is the address you should provide in the previously mentioned thread. If you want to check the validity of a Bitcoin address, try http://blockexplorer.com/q/checkaddress

If you wish to donate to the Mine For BTC project, please send Bitcoins to 1F9yxUgHhJuUbryL8NUQGNRCFccHASWvAe. Note that no donations to upgrade accounts to VIP are being used to fund this project - it is coming out of my pocket, so donations made directly to this project are greatly appreciated! I would also love to increase the amount of Bitcoins paid per block mined, and donations would certainly help me do so...!

Why? To hopefully attract more people to play, and play for longer on our server. I view it as a form of advertisement! Soon, I will also be revealing this to the Bitcoin community at large, which could bring a number of new players to our server.

And yes, of course, blocks mined are kept! Everything will be as normal in the game.

I've noticed you at the top of the list every time I've done daily test runs in the past days... you do a significant amount of mining/block placing by the looks of it!

Wait so how much is a bitcoin worth in real US money? And by useless blocks do you mean by placing a block and replacing it? Wouldn't this outlaw cobblestone generators?

It's possible I will disclude cobblestone generator activity. How is the cobblestone collected from such a generator? Does the player have to mine it, or does it just automatically drop into their inventory?

They mine it.

They mine it.
So someone could stand there with a brick on their mouse button and be "mining" 24/7? I might have to disclude such activities from this reporting then. Maybe by only counting unique block locations modified.

Ok so I noticed 2 things on that link to making a bitcoin account. Which one do I click? The green one or the blue one on the top in the left-hand corner?

This is obviously going to be challenging to set up a good system.
I'm at the top of blocks mined/placed? :0 Now, excuse me while I go protect my title! >:eek2:

Can you make some sort of daily leaderboard or something Sgt? I think it would add a layer of friendly competition to our server escapades.

Either one - they both lead to the same thing.

Yes - it's on my to-do list!

Would there be a quota for blocks mined/placed? Or would this be a thing where we put in as much effort into this as we want no quotas or being full/part time miners. If I do agree to this I doubt I will be on a significant time except for vacations like I am now. Also, how practical are bitcoins? I would like to know if it could help pay for food and text books with bitcoins from this if possible.

There's no quota - you can mine 8 blocks and be paid for them, or 800,000.

They're fairly impractical at this point, but the list of vendors/people accepting them continues to grow. You can always sell them for USD too, and use that to buy whatever you want.

In a cobblestone generator water touches lava which generates cobblestone. You could then mine the cobblestone generated. It's an efficient way of collecting stone without defacing the earth. You don't always get the cobblestone you mine as there is a chance it will fall into the lava.

Alright, I'll try to think of ways to mitigate this. I have a feeling the mysql script to only grab unique x,y,z would be too complex to run within a practical time limit for 70 million blocks (yes, we have changed 70 million blocks as a whole since the last hawkeye reset!).

Second payout went through successfully. :) I am thinking of increasing the payout significantly, up to 10x what it is now. I want to see a few more days of data first to be sure I can afford it though.

So, with all the translating, how much blocks would you need to mine in order to get a single American dollar?
