Who's getting it, what class are you playing, and did you play the original?

What are you most looking forward to?

For me? Combat all day every day.

I LOVED the original, I already bought it, i'm most looking forward to making awesome builds for pvp like I did in the original.

I haven't decided on whether I want to commit to another MMO. I've played so many of them in my life now... and they're just getting more and more stale as they go. Played WoW for about 3 years, Star Wars: The Old Republic for about 6 months, Rift for a month, used to play Dark Ages of Camelot, Runes of Magic, and god knows how many others that I can't even think of their names anymore.

Maybe if they release a "play until level 10" sorta deal so I get a chance to try it out... otherwise, probably won't buy it. Despite the fact that it doesn't have a monthly fee. Just sick of throwing $60 away constantly on games that end up being the same old rehashed stuff.

Guild Wars 2 has a LOT of unique features. I was a bit dissapointed that they made a high level cap, but the way it plays is kind of amazing. You have group events that happen all over the place, and a "unique" story for your character that depends on what options you choose. The character customization is insane too, if you take the time you can make your character look very unique. There are secrets everywhere, and things kept suprising me all the time, like I was running around in one of the starting areas when suddenly a boss flies in and everyone in the area drops what they are doing and runs in to help. I've never played an mmo quite like it before, and I don't think you would be disappointed with it honestly. It's obvious they put a ton of work into trying to make a unique experience, just go into it not expecting it to be the same as the first game and you will have a GREAT time.

Rift did the same thing, Rifts would open and it became a big event. They die off as no one is in the areas and it becomes an inconvenience after a while. Rifts opening in the opening worlds was sweet. Then, when it was like you, and 4 other people and HORDES of baddies rushing out of the Rift, you kinda had to hide and wait for it to be over because there wasn't anything you could do to combat it.

You'll have to see how Guild Wars 2 goes in that regard, but if the player base starts hanging in the higher level areas and cities only and leaving the newbie areas fairly empty, the same issue will arise.

I also didn't go into SW:TOR expecting the same old thing. It had this story line, all narrated, no reading that you could fully immerse yourself in. My first character through, I listened to every bit of dialogue, but at the core of it, it was the same thing. Kill 20 of these, retrieve 5 of them, bring this person here, go to this hub, go to that hub, go to the next hub, move onto the next zone. Clear these few dungeons with friends if you want, get better loot, carry on. The MMO genre seems to be getting stale.

All this being said, I'm a sucker for spending money so before the end of the day I'll probably end up buying GW anyway (not a literal day, but you know, the expression).

I understand what you are saying, and that is definitely present to an extent in gw2. I really really enjoyed all the secrets around personally. I love exploring new places, it's the main reason I will play an mmo, and they packed the landscape full of stuff to explore and hidden areas, so that's the main reason ill be playing it.

I also think the PVP experience is pretty unique. A few have done it before but I think GW2 gets it right. I hate PVP in MMOs but I had a blast in the first one. Also, all the classes and races are very unique and offer a fun and varied experience depending on how you want to play.

If you're a rat, I've got a 9 for that
im planning on getting it. I had All the first guildwars, (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) and Eye of the North and they were FANTASTIC! when i get GW2 i plan on either being a human theif or a norn guardian. i'll get more characters over time, but those 2 are what im debating to start with.

Sadly for you guys, i might play on the server that my guild from the original one play on :(
