Halo Novels

First off, if a book forum is created, could a moderator move this thread there?

Alright, so I recently got back into the Halo novels, and I was curious if I'm the only one who read them? The terminals Halo 3 and Halo Anniversary have reignited my love for the games lore and back-story. Specifically the Forerunners, although the Precursors ignite my interest even more-so. Specifically the fact that the lore doesn't mind appending human history PRIOR to the evolution of Homo-sapiens. I for one am a fan of story, so the fact that the newer games touch on things from the books is awesome.

Anyone else delved into these books?

I never quite understood video game books, because they've always been such a personal experience for me. I don't think I could relate to what is being described in the book. Though, I hear out of all video game books Halo's and Mass Effect's graphic novel are all really good.

Anyone that dislikes seeing ANYTHING from the books, do not read the below. Some things mentioned (not plot critical) below are mentioned in Halo: Cryptum.
For games that are a bit more linear like Halo, books are great, as they give backstory that just can't be given through the game. For instance, the Forerunner Saga, a series of Halo books about the race of beings that created all of the ruins and advanced tech (including the Halos) gives more insight into the Forerunner's culture, their life, and their goals for creation of the Halo rings and why they do not exist today. It also touches on humanity. It basically reveals that at one point, long before "prehistory" as we know it, homo floriensiese and homo sapiens existed together as a super power galactic civilization. Humanity was at a state of advancement far beyond what they are in "present day" Halo. Hints point that Humanity was created by the Precursors as a successor to their race, as the precursors were wiped out by the Forerunners in a bloody war which only ended when the Forerunners developed and fired the first Halo, which wiped out the Precursors. Humanity also at one point ended up in a war with the Flood, in which Humanity defeated them and supposedly wiped them out. At the same time, the Forerunners went into war with Humanity in response to them not "following the mantle" (The Forerunners religion revolved around The Mantle). Humanity lost due to it's weakened state from it's war with the Flood, resulting in the Forerunners punishing the humans. This included stripping them of technology, removing all trace of their existence (and glassing) from other planets, and restricted them to Erde-Teryn (The Forerunner's name for Earth). It is at this point that "prehistory" begins, as Humanity devolves back into a primitive state, with minimal (mostly trade and the occasional transportation of pilgrims across Earth) contact with Forerunners.

End of Nerding.
