Couldn't get any decent programming interviews for over a month now, and Blizzard called me today to setup an interview (possibly their upcoming MMO), and BioWare called today as well to setup an interview as a programmer on SWTOR (upcoming Star Wars MMO).

Both excited and nervous...just had to tell someone. :p

If you do not take this job, I will hate you for all eternity and you will be the most foolish person I have ever encountered.

Well the biggest hurdle is that I own a home that I would have to sell, and it is an FHA loan so I'll owe $8000 to the government if I sell it before August. Tough decision if I got to pick between both, everything Blizzard makes turns to gold, but BioWare has made some awesome stuff in the last few years as well and the cost of living is less there.

Keep the house, rent it out. At least until August. There's lots of rental agencies that will do all the dirty work for you, and cut you a check less expenses at the end of every month.

Good luck! Hopefully you get a job offer from at least one of them. :)

When you meet Blizz tell them they are dead to me...
When you meet Bio tell them they rock.

Also good luck!

Unfortunately if I rent it out I also have to pay the $8,000, also being a landlord from several states away will be difficult. One option would be to have my wife stay here until August and then sell it, but that's quite awhile to living apart.

Agh, yeah, that sucks. :\

We got our house with an FHA loan too. We just passed up our 3 years this last October though, so we're technically "free" to do whatever we want with it. Also, we bought it in late '08, which is before they introduced the free $8000 credit. We got a $7500 credit, but it all has to be paid back over the course of the next 15 years. Still a good deal though - basically an interest-free loan on that money. The free $8000 would have been nicer though...

How much would the mortgage payments add up to if your wife stayed until August? Seems like you'd almost get to that $8000 amount anyway just in mortgage payments.

I think the prospects would be better with Bioware, by the way. The thing is, (and this is just my opinion), WoW is dying a slow death. And once it's gone, what does Blizzard have left? StarCraft and Diablo. I think Bioware would be better as SWTOR seems to like it will be a behemoth when it's released, as well as Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and their other brands.

It would be almost the same amount if we just paid the $8000, depending on what kind of work my wife could find after we moved.

And to respond to the other comments, Blizzard has way more money and income, and if they're poised to release another MMO that is as big as WoW it might be a great opportunity. BioWare's Dragon Age didn't do so well after the last installment and Mass Effect 3 is the last in that series. However cost of living is less in TX where BioWare is. Guess I'll see, I may not get offers from either so this is a bit premature.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know what I find out. I should mention I already found a job here in Colorado so even if these two interviews don't pan out I should be secure for awhile.
