How to make infinite water in Minecraft Multiplayer Survival

For those that did not know how to make infinite water...

Place water and dirt in checkerboard pattern like so:
XOXOXO
OXOXOX
XOXOXO

Remove the dirt blocks. The water should merge and be non-flowing.

For infinite Lava, just make this pattern 1 block high from stone:

XXXXX
XOOOX
XOXOX
XOOOX
XXXXX

Then place a bucket of Lava on top. When you need lava, take that top square and it will somehow fill itself from the bottom up. XD

I beleive infinite lava was fixed way back in Alpha sometime.

I have looked but couldn't find anyone that knew how to make infinite lava since.

As for infinite water, basically the rule is that if an empty block is next to 2 full blocks of water it will fill up itself, and will then be an infinite spring.

I found this easier for infinite water:

XXXXXX
XOOOX
XXXXXX

X=dirt
O=water

Just take the middle block, it'll fill up. Very compact when put into a wall.
