So it seems we can't spawn any mobs in creative either, is that true?
What is the reasoning behind that one?

Lag. The creative world is designed to be a place where pretty structures are made. Why do you need to fill it with animals that would just raise the entity count?

It would allow me to test builds before putting the time and resources into building them elsewhere. Think mad scientist's laboratory.
I'm not thinking of adding anything permanent, just long enough to test the feasibility and/or efficiency of various builds.

A narrow, well-defined version of creative stifles creativity.

would villagers and normal animals like cows, pigs and such also count as mobs?

Yes. In this case I was specifically thinking of villagers.

A lot of players have labs. I myself have a large one underneath the Sombre House. The fact remains we're trying to keep entity counts down, and we don't need massive farms in creative. I'm sorry but you'll have to test your villager structures in Build or your own worlds.

Fine, I will do my testing in build.
    But just to be clear:

Nobody said massive. The two choices aren't zero or massive.
Funny thing is, this results in MORE villagers being created, because I cannot be as precise in my testing.

The problem is, we can't just limit entity creation on a specific map. So if we allow them at all, we would have to allow large amounts of them without close moderation. The rarity with which mobs are desired on the creative world means our moderator time is better spent moderating other activities.

If there is a large amount of demand for allowing mobs on creative, we could consider changing this. So far though, this is the first request for them that I have heard of.

I understand what everyone is saying, and I'm not even arguing your points.
I was just looking at creative as a place to test the various aspects of some more complex builds I'm interested in, and it's turning out to not be that at all.
    It's disappointing is all.

Major, is there a certain reason you need to do your testing in the mutiplayer? Why not use singleplayer and do all the testing necessary? :D

If I spent half my time in single player testing stuff, what's the point of being on a server?
Of course, I just spent the whole day doing the testing I needed to do with villagers.
So maybe that's not a bad idea...
