Mod Suggestions

I just found a way to properly ban items on Hey0's server mod, so no need for this one anymore... unless it has some other features you were hoping for?

Hmmm.... he doesn't add any customizability to the mod. So some things he has added (like giving public players colored names), I really don't want to implement. :\ I'll keep looking in to it though, see if there is any way around some of those things. Most of those things. Ok, everything but the bucket mod. :p

Have you looked at MCAdmin yet?
MCAdmin link

It's slightly different than the command structure we are using now, but it has some added features, like hey0 mod compability, and a say command works.. sort of. I've only been able to get it work through the server console.
I can easily get it to work on Win7, but WHS gives me issues. I am not sure about Server 08 (R2?). From what I read on the forums it works on 08. Maybe I'll load up an S08 instance and compare it to WHS as I have a copy.. somewhere lol..

From what I've seen of MCAdmin so far it has a bit of flexibility, like you can still have things like TNT, fire, lava, etc enabled for say, VIPs, but 'guest' level players can't get it, use it, etc. It also has a buit-in backup/save feature for the map, which puts it into a nice .zip file you can send to ppl, extract for generating a map, and stuff. Pretty handy stuff. I am going to install this on my desktop rig (win7, SSD) and see if I can get the Hey0 mod to work with this, as well as the bucket fi_ (lol)..
I'll look for my Server08 disc and see if I can do that if it's not a lot of trouble for me atm. We'll see.

Thoughts?

I like this idea. Having TNT that we could use, even if under supervision of a mod, would be a great time saver for large digging projects. It is mostly banned because of griefing, so if it were restricted to VIPs/mods/admins we probably wouldn't have much need to monitor its usage, as it would be idiotic to donate to the server and then grief it and get banned.

Update: While the server was down last night a couple of us jumped onto my server to test out the features and see if the rankings and everything worked. It was nearly perfect. A couple of settings to iron out and we have ourselves a new fully featured set of mods to use on our next map!

Just have to figure out how to lock down one or two more things and we're good to go.

LogBlock: "May do horrible things to your minecraft server or database, cause lag, or eat small children."

Well as long as we can get around the first two.... :D

If we're using Llamacraft and it says that the it's compatible with the update, why don't buckets work?

We were using llamacraft before the update, but there were some issues with the way we had it set up that didn't want to work after the update.

We're also planning on adding several new plugins at the same time, and with the save/inventory issues still doing weird things, we don't want to restart very often. We're getting all the plugins we need working so that we can implement them all on the same server restart, rather than having to restart multiple times.

Patience. Part of the issue is that I've been working 12 hr days the last three days, so I haven't had much time to dedicate to Minecraft. We'll get there though.

BorderLands (v1.25) [124]

http://forum.hey0.net/showthread.php?tid=260
-probably a good way to prevent an exaggerated map size

SessionProtect (v0.52) [124]

http://forum.hey0.net/showthread.php?tid=32
-im not sure if you already tried this one, but sounds ok and could help some duping.

LWC 1.10 :: Lightweight Chest Protection & Management

seems more complex than the current one, but sounds like it will have a better future considering the optimization part.

Block Remove Lag Plugin -

http://forum.hey0.net/showthread.php?tid=1157

Since the last update there of course has been the block lag which has been destroying the game, with us personally finding many people left our community as they found the game unplayable. As a result we created a few plugins to fix SMP. The first one which I’m releasing is called Blocko, blocko doesn’t anything shocking just fixes when blocks reappear. I would appreciate if you mentioned this post to others, as the block lag has been hurting the community.
