Mods are too nice on forum

In my personal opinion, mods are too incredibly forgiving.

If the creative server is supposed to be the cream of the crop, BEST builders, do not waste time on applications like this:
http://www.minecraftcc.com/index.php?threads/builder-app-r3sol-i-want-to-build-on-creative.2353/

Accept that as their application and deny it. If someone does not want to take the time to read the proper way to post an application, then it isn't worth their time and they do not need Builder status.
I am not calling out any one user.

And if someone isn't going to take the time to read how to post a ban appeal don't still try to assist them. I could link to specific examples in the ban appeal thread showing that most people don't even bother using basic spelling and grammar. Some threads are so bad that they are completely unreadable.

I don't mean patrol with a fist, just don't waste time assisting those who do not want to assist themselves.

Yes, I think I mentioned this to Jacca earlier that if a person doesn't take the time to make a well thought out application/ban appeal, then they obviously do not have the commitment to prove they deserve what they are requesting.

For instance, the person who wrote a story about "Oscar Meyer", the orphan potato farmer. This person obviously didn't take it seriously, yet we still offered him the chance to make a real ban appeal. While I'm not saying all cases be treated the same, in some situations, we should just say no and leave it at that, and forget the person.

Problem is, what makes a "good" appeal, and a "bad" one can be quite subjective. And the rules we have would probably cause us to ignore 75% of the ban appeals that are posted. Getting ignored just frustrates people, it doesn't solve anything.

That said, when someone does post a proper ban appeal, it does help their case for getting unbanned. And when someone doesn't put any effort into an appeal or doesn't follow the rules for making an appeal, they're typically voted down by the majority of mods just for that reason.

I'm out, come find me elsewhere.
I agree with Sgt on the ban appeals. Most people would never be unbanned if we were super strict about format. However... I agree with Frothing about the creative section, if someone posts an incorrect application they ought to be denied instantly. The creative map needs to be for people who can understand and follow it's rules, so that it stays nice and clean.

So far any application for builder that is posted incorrectly is denied and they have to wait a week before reapplying.

This comment is maybe neither here nor there (as an expression).

This next comment is meant to be illustrative of a general problem that might be encountered, but not meant to be mean.

I looked in some carefulness at the door examples at Seattle area in Creative World... In my kinda beginners opinion, they were not generally very well done... As I say, this isn't meant to be mean, but the city isn't all artwork, and those that bring the artwork maybe cant bring everything (or maybe even all kinds of art). I offered to um.. give hints/tips to the door builders, but got no response ( maybe they werent On).. yet is it fair for a 'hobo shack' builder to help the creative people with their technical stuffs... -shrug- i dunno.. that would be for yall to decide i suppose.

And sometimes, no, FrothingLuck.. they maybe aren't always too nice. And... um.. kinda stickily.. forgiving would have been to not ban at all maybe. This next comment maybe needs an introduction as... in the United States, age discrimination is common and maybe well accepted ( eg most? movie theaters give discounts to senior citizens). Sometimes there are other kinds of discrimination.. such as maybe knowledge discrimination or perhaps language discrimination.. This is maybe too entangled to say, but sometimes those oddballs, goofballs, fumblers, etc. have something to bring to the table in incalculable ways. Now this might sound like a punch, just dodge.. it isnt.

Something about this phrase bothers me. What would have happened if we had not banned nivid45, or the Avo griefers, or steven812 and funnyporter89? Forgiveness can't be an option.

But this is not related to the thread. Let's keep it on-topic.

As usual, Oli has managed to sway my opinion away from my previous stance. Yeah, I'm loose like that.

I derive that from the dictionary definition of forgiveness.. FORE and GIVE more simply.. maybe technically a forgiven person would have no punishment, but then you say to keep it on topic after you say it :).

I've thought of a system. You get banned for, say, a day, then the next time you get banned for the same thing, you get banned for a week. Third time in a spqce of around 2-3 months, permabanned. Please say so if you think this is a good idea. Sorry for going off topic.

While that seems like a good time structure... a lot of damage can be done. Say you act up, get banned for a day. You know you're banned for a day. Now you're thinking, let's get back at MCcc for what they did to me, that injustice will not go unpunished! You sign on the next day, see a few mods on, bide your time... later on that evening its all free and clear. You go on a hacking, flying, crouching running escapade covering the whole world in lava, ice, flowers and pictures of Oliver. Obviously everyone is now super offended. No worries, only a 3 day ban for all that jazz and a massive mess for everyone and the moderators to clean up.

Our system works. If you don't take the time to read the signs that appear DIRECTLY in front of you in every server of the basic rules, why should you have a spot? They're all extremely self explanatory, and shouldn't require multiple slaps on the wrists. My daughter is 2, if I tell her something once she stops. Why can't a 12+ year old be capable of the same learning curve?
