My Palace in LostCity

I just logged on today and found that someone had broken into my locked house in LostCity and stolen some of my diamonds from a chest in the basement. I can tell that they tried to break in by guessing the code to the door because the switches were not as I left them when I logged out on Friday night/Saturday morning. I logged on today to discover that someone had smashed the wall near my door to get access to the house, taken one of my iron doors, broken the redstone that ran the doors, and, as I said earlier, stolen my five diamonds. They also took the few pieces of TNT I had managed to collect in my chest. The chest was registering as private when I logged out last time and didn't even register as having chestprotect when I found it missing diamonds. Yet, the thief was very selective in what was stolen; left behind were 26 pieces of gold and 12 pieces of iron. From the fact that nothing but the way in was broken, I'm going to say that the objective was to steal, but why the person went through so much trouble when they did not even know if I would have the diamonds is beyond me.

I am currently repairing the house and I have moved my chest to a more secure location, but I think it's rediculous that I would have to do this in a VIP only area. Also, we need to get the chestprotect situation either fixed or removed as it causes people to falsely believe that their items are secure.

Attached are pictures of what the house looked like when I logged on.

We've certainly had some trouble with chest protect, but we're still trying some different processes to hopefully protect the data properly. I suspected that the chest protection data loss was due to an improper shutdown of the server software, but it may also happen with a server crash. I will consider removing the mod altogether until we can do additional testing though. You're right - it does provide a false sense of security.

Thanks for the note about the grief. It is certainly unfortunate that a VIP has decided to go with this course of action, and we will work hard to figure out who it is.

Thank you, that's all I ask. After all, it didn't take long to fix and the only thing I'm missing is some diamonds (which rankles, but I'll live). I just don't want others to have the same problem.

Joris - they simply broke the wall. And I've no idea why they didn't take everything - perhaps it wasn't all useful to them?
