Number of mods?

The number of mods we have is starting to seem a bit low again. I think that's in good part due to the popularity of the server. It's not so bad on the weekdays, but on the weekends we regularly have 30+ people and sometimes there are no mods on.

Would there be a problem with letting VIPs check block history? This would allow VIPs to check on griefing and report it. Anyway, this may be too much for VIPs, but at the very least we could have a few more mods even if they could only do a few basic things like teleport and check block histories.

Any thoughts?

I second this. I tried to raise the issue during the VIP Gold discussion, but no one seemed to notice.

It's becoming a real issue. VIPs and golds can sorta bluff people into obeying rules sometimes, but we can't follow possible griefers or really do anything about their rule-breaking.

Also, getting a TP is simply not an option most of the time.

i fully agree with you lord. i have been watching out for griefers for the past week and have caught 3. i wasnt able to prove they did anything because i couldnt check the block history. and i forgot their names and the places so i couldnt do anything. i wouldnt mind the extra help and i think i could help alot more with this ability. and more mods would be nice because there are like none on half the time. it should be someone very very active because then there would be a mod on most of the time

I'll consider it, though I do see some inherent problems with it. For one, you could tell who raided you on PvP and plot revenge. It seems more fair, in my opinion, that you do not know who raided you unless they admit it or left a sign (as some love to do).

I will look in to recruiting more mods though.

If VIPs could check history it shouldn't be on PVP where it could be used to gain advantage. PVP should require less moderation I would think, as there are fewer rules there. But I could be wrong about that.

More mods definitely.

Even when there was one/some on the server, ppl would be ignored and you wouldn't get a tp for close to 15mins or so.

The thing with that is teleports are not the top priority when griefers are around, and sometimes chat gets filled up and moves quickly if there are alot of people on. One way to get a mods attention is to PM them. We aren't outright 'ignoring' people either, we can only do so much at once, and if you wait, you will be taken care of. The teleport issue should be settled once we find a good plugin that does what we want, untill then you will just need to be patient.

i agre with you marine i have seen so many griefs when i am wandering around looking for them and reporting them and then finding out they have been there for like 5 months. i think more mods are needed to keep our server as safe and fair as it can. cause rememeber a well watched plant grows better than others. its like that with servers too. i say we get the tpc ready for the vips to use (and stop complaining about) and use our mods for the good of the server (aka griefing and stealing and hacking). we need a few more mods if we scrap the idea for vips to use tpc because tpc is a thing vips were promised when we donated. also i agree with the pvp thing and me and my friends would never do something like that (because we would be abusing our powers) and use our block history privalidge for looking at griefs and helping more as vips (because we do basically nothing right now because of our lack of powers needed to investigate). i have though investigated and solved mysteries with a mods help by pointing out what they should do. i hope you think of this post and plz tell me your answer asap.

Guys please also remember a standard rule when it comes to gaming. Real Life comes first. Many of us mods have jobs and school that take us away from the game. Personally for me I've been at work and then straight to bed after so that I could be up and ready for the next work day. I will be on Friday and Saturday though and looking forward to it!

It isn't really possible to give VIPs block viewing. Also I don't see how it would help - even if they know that its not as if theyu can do anything with the information - they still need to get a mod to fix it or ban the person.

Im all for the idea. The number of screen shots of griefers ect is far too large but I can't seem to find where they are stored. Ayway i've said it before but kick ability VIP Gold doesn't seem all too bad to me if the mod numbers cant be increased.

I'd have to say I agree with Lordi, for the most part it seems we have a mod on through out the day. Early in the morning however, when I get on around 8:00 am EST, is usually when I either see no mods, or on occasion they will be in and out. This is until 12\1 in the afternoon where it picks up a bit, then off again. I am often running around attempting to keep an eye on things... Very hard, especially when they are aware of you. Just in the past couple days, I've caught many griefs and even a guy threatening to hack server. In regards of extra perks, that be nice and all to have a few new abilities, but I say leave Moderating for the mods. Im sure VIP's wouldn't abuse those mod-like perks (despite consequence), but it does seem like it make things more complicated. I do think that we could use a few more mods. Everything in these posts, could be done easier and faster with more mods.

Would people benefit from a plugin that allows VIP+ members to text a mod/admin if they have problems?

I never thought about it like that, but I think that's exactly right. Most moderators are probably older, and will have school and/or jobs. My job is such that I can play for 3 weeks every night, and then not at all for another 3 weeks. I think this may be the reason it seems like we don't have enough mods, just because they cannot be online as much as some of the kids/teens that can play 6-8 hours per day.

Opening up moderator applications never really tells us much. We already know out of the active people here who would be a good mod and who wouldn't.
