Finally have a Terraria server running! I had to start it up on a computer that wasn't the server, because it just wasn't behaving properly with Server 2008, so no guarantees on uptime, but I'll try to make sure it's up 24/7. Once an official command-line server variant is released, I'm sure it'll be less troublesome to get it running on the real server.

If you have any suggestions for the server, let me know. As far as I know, there is very little customization that can be done server-side anyway.

Yes! I will try and log in later today, but will probably spend most of my time hiding in a corner and crying in terror. Just ignore me.

*edit* spent some time playing earlier. Maybe it's just on my end, but has anyone else experienced any lag? I'm hitting slimes, only for them to magically reappear on my head and deal damage.

Yeah, from what I'm reading this happens with some people, and not with others. Here's the gist of what I've read (badly explained, of course)

"The monster lag can occur sometimes when a computer is too good for the game (lulz, mine sucks). What happens is the FPS from the client and the FPS from the server don't line up, causing it to register that you're both hitting a mob, and not hitting it at the same time, which is why it's teleporting around you and still making contact, even though there's supposed to be a knockback effect."

Supposedly there are two main solutions people are using atm (neither of which work for me, but I've read success stories from other forums).
1. Change your monitor to 60Hz under your display settings pane.
2. Use Fraps to record and lower your FPS, which allows both client and server to line up.

It's semi-playable for me ATM as I can shoot most mobs from long range, but it's still very annoying. We should hopefully see an official fix soon.

i was in terraria underworld and got an extra 10 hellstone forges if anybody wants one you can have it

Just an FYI, I had the computer Terraria is running on give me the boot yesterday... I came home and it was sitting at the Welcome screen, and logging in revealed the classic "Windows has experienced a problem" dialog.

Regardless, I reduced the overclock I have on the three video cards in that system slightly, so hopefully it was just an instability from that overclock that caused the issue.

i think the server needs to be updated, it says "you are not using the same version as this server"
