Future: Add another 2GB of ram
Future: Add X2 processor
10/06/2010: Fixed buckets
10/04/2010: Added 2GB of ram
09/XX/2010: Added Hey0's mod
You added 2GB of RAM on the 4th, or you added 1GB of RAM to put it at 2GB?

Also, buckets are fixed?! Sweet!

EDIT: Oh, and why not an X4 processor? They're around $100-130. Maybe we need more donations. :)

No X4 because I need a new motherboard first. That will come in time. ;)

I replaced two 512MB sticks of ram with 1 2GB stick. It wouldn't let me run 2.5GB for whatever reason.

Installed the other 2GB stick of ram last night, but found I could only use a total of 1.6GB for the java VM. Next upgrade will be a new motherboard and 64-bit OS so I can utilize more of the memory.

X4 & Zalman 9500 on the way! Planning to OC that beast to 4.0ghz, or at least hoping. ;) That should give a good deal more headroom...

4GB should be here soon, hopefully tomorrow?

Wow, the price LITERALLY dropped $5 overnight. Going to have to call up newegg and ask for a partial refund.

It's a 940, 3.0ghz, rev C3. Should be good. :cool2:

I just looked at some info about the X4. Wow, that is one seriously powerful chip. Especially if you decide to overclock it.

They sound pretty amazing, looking forward to experimenting with it! Will go for 3.5-3.7ghz initially, and see how much heat I'm getting.

Corsair 650W PSU on the way! Mainly for stability, the server went down completely once - turned itself off - and I suspect the PSU. Also, will be plenty if the i7 happens down the road.

More importantly, I ordered a Docsys 3.0 cable modem, which will allow me to upgrade to the 50/10 ISP plan. 10mbps upload will allow a LOT more headroom compared to the 1.5mbps I am currently paying for. Which means more players and less lag. :D

I'm out, come find me elsewhere.

Put another 4GB on the way - it's gotten cheap! The first 4GB stick I bought was.. $98, I think? This one was only $75!

And now, after all these upgrades on the AMD platforms, I'm going to be swapping it out for... an i7! 12GB DDR3, i7-950, and Gigabyte i7 mobo on the way. Also bought a bracket converter that will allow me to use the Zalman 9500 cooler I have on the i7. Should give us headroom for AT LEAST 5 more players on each server, possibly more (5 players is assuming an equal overclock to the current X4, 3.6ghz).

You can't really compare the 950 to the AMD x4 clock for clock :p It doesn't work like that :p
I took a look at various non-game benchmarks (non-game, since MC Server isn't graphical), and noticed that the i7 was, on average, about 25% faster than the X4. So I figure if I get the i7 to the same overclock (3.6ghz), then I should be able to run 5 more players without much trouble. Also expecting to be able to reach a higher OC with the i7... 4.0ghz is my target. :D

Not on that cooler you won't :p Pretty sure that Zalman will barely keep it under 55-60 idle if you oc it to 4GHz

I have a Hyper 212+ (decent performance heatsink), with 2 120mm fans on it. It is difficult for me to hit 4.0Ghz and stay under 75c with 71F ambient. Of course, your 950 might get to 4.0Ghz at a lower voltage than my 930. It's been 6 months since I OC'd mine, I forget the voltage I needed to hit 4.0Ghz.
