Socrates271, mod, griefs me

I'm just going to state the facts here:

1. The day of the our fight, Socrates teleported to me without my consent while I was at my base. He has also admitted to planning this since the day of our fight (see pic).

2. Today, I log in, TP /home, and find a massive dynamite/pressure plate trap waiting for me underneath my feet. I die, and a massive crater is created, destroying my entire home and most of the top of the mountain.

3. Vargess, Socrates271, and 1337phreak all come to the scene to investigate. However, Socrates remains on the sidelines while Vargess spends around 15-20 minutes trying to determine who planted the TNT. Socrates does not admit he did it until AFTER Vargess discovers the evidence.

4. I don't know what the deal with this is, but the 4 diamond items that I had sitting in my 4 "invulnerable" crafting blocks (the ones in your inventory) are gone. I've been told that admin cannot remove these items, but it's hard to not draw a connection given the timing.

Because of the 5-heart killing scene, the admins reconsidered the use of modifications, and as far as I know, the auto-respawn function was deactivated. That the crafting slots kept the items upon death, that was part of the modification, and so the behavior is as in singleplayer: Death drops everything except the crafting slots which are just gone. I think that part is a legitimate situation and no moderator abuse.

If a moderator knows about your home merely because they used their legitimate power to teleport to you (without asking you, that's ok, they are the police), and this then is the root of a cause&effect chain that leads to the moderator "being just a PvP player attacking you", that is clear moderator abuse. Also, the explosion is clearly excessive griefing.

A difficult situation was created.

Here's my take on the situation...

We definitely need to clarify the rules for trap-making. Thus far, traps of any kind and size have been allowed, both as defenses for one's own house, as well as offenses within an enemy's home. I am going to clarify the rules and limit TNT traps within someone else's home to 4 TNT max.

Also, even though I already talked to you about it, I'll say it for clarification of others. Mods can tp to other players in order to check up on players and make sure they are not hacking. We will often check people while they are in their homes for chests full of stacks of diamond, etc. With the events of that particular day (the day of the fight), I don't blame him for wanting to check up on you... not that I'm trying to accuse you of anything, but he certainly thought something was up, hence the checks.

I am disappointed that he didn't speak up while the investigation was made, but that's not going to equate a ban.

taG, thanks for explaining the inventory 4-slots thing - I was unaware that that was part of the DeathShout plugin. I thought it was just another bug in the game as a whole.

With deathshout players were allowed to store 4 items in their crafting table for safe-keeping which could still be cleared by moderators if inventoryclear worked properly. Yet inventory clear only allows clearing of the inventory and not the crafting / equipment slots. That is a bug in invclear.

After ds was disabled this no longer was in effect thus anything that he had while he died is where he was last at when he died.

Secondly the tnt placed was not nearly as much as is recorded in our records. I had a stack on me yet it reports that I placed nearly 80 blocks. I am certain this is a false read.

And lastly, yes I did not immediately report it to Vargess, a mistake I admit. The pvp server is bringing out the worst in me which is why I'm retiring to the build server for a while. :) Glhf

Well, you lose some, you gain some.

The moment I logged on, I lost -literally- everything.

Since then, I've "acquired" 15 diamonds, without having to lift a pick.

Thanks, karma. *hug*

I don't doubt this statement (or the others). But does this mean that the block logs are, well, far off? What about sniper's ban about placing more than 700 TNT blocks then?

This is bad, m'kay.

I really hope I don't lose all these items when SgtSpike rolls back the server due to the hacker attack today!!

Shoutbox:
Kiwinz: Cuboid will fix the damage in about 10 minutes...
If a rollback would happen, the timeframe (e.g. when backup was made) would be relevant, no idea how it'll be.

Just theoretically: If all players would gather in a safe area (that was not griefed or changed since the backup), then there might somehow be a way to rollback the map without rolling back the player data. But apart from the fact that this is kinda impossible to organize (except if the player coordinates were all overwritten with safe locations via some hack, then later restored to original location)... we could mine the same spot again and get double the diamonds, to name an example. Or, the other way round: You might have built a long fence. It would be gone. But your inventory would still have less fences.
