Hey Everyone! Get ready for another public farm building project! (Scroll to the bottom to see how YOU can get involved today!)
With the success of the slime farm in mind, we've decided to start the planning process for the public blaze farm. This is a project that everyone is welcome and encouraged to get involved with.
ALL TOOLS AND BLOCKS WILL BE PROVIDED!

We've already found the place that it will be! Hold tight while we come up with a proper plan & Checklist!

For now, we really need to gather fire resistance potions (8 mins preferable)! Any donations would be awesome! Talk to me in game for info/updates!

A big thank you to Major for finding an even closer set of blaze spawners!

Small Update!

We've made a lot of progress, but there is still a lot to go! There is now room for ghasts to spawn, so please be careful as you dig. As well, watch out for holes, as there has been some experimentation with TnT and some random rogue holes going straight down.

A picture of said ghasts has been included!

Hey everyone! The project is coming along! We've made a dent in the netherack, but still have a long ways to go!
Join us in digging!
As of today, approximately 17 people are involved in the project! Let's raise that number up!
Here are some progress pictures + other additions

A mass chunk missing! Below, you can see the wall has begun from the bottom as well.

Thank you to Cakle for building the blaze spawn a super smelter! The lava buckets by major are helping to fuel this monster!
We've made a dent, but we are not finished yet! Get involved today!

Hey guys, check out the neat additions to the blaze spawn! Make sure to come on by, check out the progress and help continue the dig!
Ghasts are not invited to hang out on the blaze spawn patio ;)

Major a while back attacking the lava. A dangerous job, but props to Major for getting so much done already

Hello Everyone! Another update here!
We've been making decent progress, but still have a lot to go and need as many pickaxes as possible to help mine up the netherrack! Get involved today!
I've collected some more pictures of our efforts so far!
First, a satisfying picture of netherrack removal
2018-06-20_19.55.03.png
We've also finished draining the lava! A huge hand to Major for tackling this part early, and to Cakle for helping to finish it off!

Last mention today is the slabbing done on the fortress! Thanks to Major for slabbing this so that enemies were not falling onto us as we finished the lava!

Thanks everyone who has participated so far! Let's get it!

Small update!
Big progress on the bottom layers! We've reached the biggest job, and have been working on it for a while: digging!
However, unless we rally together and have more people working on it more often, it will take us a very long time to finish. Let people know about the server project, and let's get digging C:

Check it out! It's been a while since the last update because it's been a lot of the same! Dig Dig Dig!
Look at this progress though everyone!

This is me, standing in the farthest corner from our blaze spawn point. As you can see, we are making HUGE progress digging up the netherrack. The bottom has started to be slabbed.
We still need a lot of help! Right now, we are looking for people to help slab the bottom, as well as continue digging!
Get involved today! ^-^

September update!

As you all know, this project started off with a huge challenge. We knew that it would take time to dig up such an ambitious amount of bedrock, and at this point, the before and after is astonishing!

Here are some photos to compare!

Before:
2018-05-04_16.56.51.png
-Starting at 2 layers below bedrock, dug at the corner of our massive layout. There was 4 million netherrack on the digging journey before us at the time of this picture.
2018-05-09_21.22.55.png
-Major standing before a challenge that he attacked bravely, removing more lava than you can imagine from our project square. This was below the mass upper layers of netherrack.

AFTER
2018-09-24_17.59.53.png
-The upper mass of netherrack is gone (taken from the warp). At the point of this picture, there is approx a bit less than a million blocks of netherrack to go!

It's been a journey, but we have tackled this task fiercely, and for that I thank everyone who has so far gotten involved with the current server project <3

It's been a while since the last update, but once the server is updated, I hope to see a push on the blaze farm!

I look forward to taking update pictures to share!

I have built blaze-catching funnels under the spawner cubes, and escalators to lift the blazes to where a player can remain within both spawners' active areas while harvesting the blazes. There is a lava-based light switch for pausing the spawners' activity, and a lever for sending the blaze rods to a storage area or to keep them accessible near the killing floor. I am considering adding a timed blaze-crushing mechanism to bring each blaze down to one heart for easy xp farming, although I have been using a looting sword to get more rods to drop. There are a few double-chests full of rods there already. Please help yourself if you want any.

I realize I sort of took off on my own with this while nobody else was building on it for so long. If anyone, for any reason, objects to any of this build activity I will happily take it down in favor of a more communal effort, and I do apologize if I have overstepped any bounds. I would welcome constructive criticism or suggestions for improvements to my design.

Hey Miner Bill! Honestly this counts as communal effort in my books as you've solved a greater problem for community. I wasn't really sure how to properly do that part and I'm not sure if anyone else did which is half the reason we were stuck q.q

Thank you for taking that on!!

Thank you, KittyAshlee. I didn't really know how to, either (and I'm still not sure whether this counts as done properly), but I've been watching some videos and experimenting with design elements. This is what I've been able to come up with so far. It seems pretty fast, although I haven't timed it. It can take a couple of minutes for the escalators to push the blazes all the way to the killing floor from a cold start, but once it's in full swing, it seems to work fairly efficiently. I do have some concerns about the number of blazes that need to populate the escalators in order to push them through the system, and whether I'm causing too many to linger in the area at once. Other than that, the system appears to transfer the output of both spawners, at their full production capacity, to the kill floor.
