Vent holds the advantage that more people use it, and more people are likely to have it installed on their systems. The disadvantage is that we can only have 8 slots, unless I pay for a rented server. A rented server would cost about $3.00 per every 10 slots.

Mumble holds the advantage that we can configure it for as many slots as we like and still host it on the minecraft server. It would be limited in a bandwidth sense to about 20 people at the lowest quality setting. The disadvantage is that not as many people have Mumble installed, and might not want to install another program just to voice chat.

So, opinions? Which one would be better for us?

Well, i personally would like vent, as i know the functionality not to mention have it set up.Mumble would be nice for the fact that it has ingame chat, not another window. but there are times when i dont want everyone to be able to hear me / i play pvp and talk to them as they play on build.... i vote vent

I don't think we would integrate Mumble directly into the game - it'd probably be a standalone service for all community activities, including both servers.

I actually quite like mumble. All in all, it's a lot easier to use, and until TF2 updated for the 1000th time which made it take up even MORE memory, I was able to use mumble and TF2, which was a lot easier.

So impatient! Lol, I'll install it when I get a chance. Right now is not a good time though. Maybe later tonight, maybe later this week.

I agree on mumble to be honest. It is much more lightweight and easier to use right from the word go.
