Yep I've seen stuff like that happen too. Sometimes it will happen with TNT blocks that leave a ghost image of themselves after they've blown up. Sometimes if you break open a chest and pick up the contents, some of the items will stay leave ghost images behind.

Relogging makes it go away. No idea what causes it.
