This doesn't really make sense to me... Minecraft is a game to build orginal ideas. Can someone answer this question for me? To me, it just seems like sort of a cop out... I'm not knocking it down, I've built a giant mario once of twice but, it I don't why I do it. t just seems sort of boring after a while. Anyone else agree or explain why we do this?

I dont really agree. I find that making stuff, no matter what it is, is fun.
If you make a map for Halo in Forge, you make it for people to play on it. If you make a level in Super Meat Boy, you make it so people play it. You made a campaign for Left 4 Dead? Great! People will play it.

Thats just my thoughts on it, ^_^

I'm not knocking it down, I'm just wondering why we find a need to recreate real life..

I wasnt saying you were, XD

As for recreating something like New York or Washington DC, people can live in the buildings that are remade, so we can say "Oh, btw, I live in the Empire State Building." Or "I live in the Statue of Liberty."

Also, I think it just comes down to the fact that people WANT to, for no other reason.

Meh, I like it. It's cool seeing an enormous Mario Cube.

I brought up the idea of real life projects, and it spread like wildfire. I believe it is because nobody has really been able to accomplish the task of making a scale city. Plus, it is one of those never ending projects that you could work on when you have nothing else to do. :D

I'm not a particularly creative person... need I say more about why I prefer recreating other people's works?

Besides, I think it would be absolutely epic seeing washington DC created in minecraft, and being able to walk through the city.

Isn't it possible to freeze MOBs like zombies in position? That would actually be interesting.

And instead of a crashed plane, it could still be in mid-air about to crash! Now my hunter skin will fit in better!

The first point for me is : people are in a simili real life world.

So making real life projects in it making sense. Then you can find new ideas, but you can't say these ideas are not inspirated by the real world or your culture, what you read, etc...
